ACS FAQ: author-redirect codes
A redirection code of an author is used when the author is known in the database under two names, f.i. '3324: Vries J' and '3325: Vries JR'. Supposing 'Vries JR' is the right name, in record 3324 in field 'redirects to' should be '3325'.
Everyone databse administrator can add authors, but the project administrator is the only one to change information about authors. Once an author-record has a redirect code, then this author will not appear in lists anymore. Furthermore, if you search an author and click in the list of results on an author with a redirect-code, you will see a list publications of the author that was redireced to.
Log in as project administrator and take from the project administrator menu the option "update author redirect codes". For each author that has a redirect code and also publications to which he/she contributed, aconfirmation will be asked. After the confirmation all publications listed under 3324 are now listed under 3325 (in the afore mentioned example).
